We've included a few of our favorite easy-to-set-up and fun-to-play party games for kids to get you started on your road to throwing a fabulous murder mystery party.
Guess Who I Am: This is a simple yet entertaining game in which the kids interrogate each other to figure out who they are. Make a list with enough identities for each visitor to choose from. Sponge Bob, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Scooby-Doo, Batman, Jimmy Neutron, Power Ranger, and so on are just a few examples. Make a master list of all the possible identities that the children can see. Then, from a central grab bag, prepare slips of paper with a single identification written on them to be picked from. Make a hidden identity for each youngster to sketch. Then the interrogation may begin.
To begin, pick any youngster. That youngster should like another player to ask a yes or no question about their character, but they can't explicitly ask, "Are you Sponge Bob?" for example. Any youngsters can try to identify the other player's identity once they have replied "Yes" or "No" to the question. In a clockwise movement, they asked questions from kid to the child. When a youngster successfully guesses another's identity, they win and receive their identification slip. You may attach a prize or treat with each obtained identity. This is an excellent game for promoting engagement, memory skills, and plenty of laughter. The most significant thing is that it's a simple game to repeat by just beginning anew with each child sketching a new identity or changing the theme for the following round by making each identity an animal, a career, a food, a toy, a superhero, etc. — Have fun with it and use your creativity.
Plan a Treasure Hunt: All children like the thrill of a treasure hunt, which involves deciphering riddles and searching down missing items. With effort and ingenuity, you can create a treasure hunt at home. First, check around your house (particularly the areas where the party will be held) for ideal hiding spots. Then, on sheets of paper with a difficulty level suited for the company you'll be entertaining, write clues that will guide them one by one to those hidden areas. "You'll have to be agile. You'll have to be swift to uncover the next clue buried under this stick," for example. The next clue would, of course, be buried behind a candle or candlestick. Prepare at least ten different clues to guide the kids on a search across the party venue, including a picnic or a park. Before the kids come, hide the clues ahead of time. The first clue should be given or read to the youngsters, and the second should be concealed in the answer place, where the following clue may be located, and so on until the final "winning treasure ticket" is discovered when the last clue is solved. You may wish to deliver a reward along the way or at the finish, such as goodie bags, party favors, chocolates, presents, award certificates, or other delights.
One variant is to attach a gift wrap to each ticket and give the present that matches the wrapping paper to the person who discovers it. Of course, gifts aren't required; simply understanding the last clue and knowing you've won might provide enough joy. Just be aware that this game frequently results in requests like, "Can we play it again!" Suppose you don't have the time or creativity to create your clever clues and treasure hunt. In that case, there are some great inexpensive pre-made custom printable treasure hunt games available online, such as Treasure-Adventure.com, designed around the typical household or outdoor objects and come with hiding guides that you can purchase the online, download, print, and play instantly.
